My 36 years in various energy industries contain the common theme of risk evaluation and management of commercial, environmental, safety and technical performance. I have comprehensive experience in advanced modeling for risk analysis and evaluation, including Monte Carlo, Bayesian Net, Structural Reliability and Evidence Supported Logic.
Since 2004 my projects related to mitigating CO2 through capture and storage in underground geological reservoirs (CCS). Focus is on management of combined technical and commercial risks. The main experience is in the EU R&D cycles, including CHEERS, ECO2, CO2SINK, CO2REMOVE, ACCSEPT, COCATE and CO2NET. Also contributed to CCS-related JIPs CO2QUALSTORE, CO2WELLS and to the DNVGL Recommended Practice on CO2 Geological Storage. Other research projects were in the Norwegian Research Council CLIMIT programme. I have served several roles, e.g. project manager, researcher, due diligence expert, subsurface specialist and quality assurance responsible.
Additional experience includes innovations in monetizing natural gas from stranded resources and in risk management of shale/tight hydrocarbon projects and various renewable technology concepts.
I worked with integrated project risk analysis in 2000-2003 on very large, very complex offshore oil and gas developments. Customers included Aker Energy, AGIP, BP, and the Norwegian Research Council.
Work experience from 1987-2000 was as a Reservoir Engineer for Norsk Hydro as an expert in building reservoir simulation models to predict oil/gas recovery for fields in various stages. This included: Gjøa,Troll Oil, Sincor (Venezuela), Brage, Troll Gas (phase 1), Oseberg, Gullfaks, Snøhvit, and more. Several super giant oil and gas fields with 10 billion+ USD CAPEX scope. I evaluated exploration prospects as well.
I started my career in technical/engineering studies in 1985 as a Research Assistant for Dr. Robert Schechter at the University of Texas at Austin.
